Features Michael writes a wide range of features, focusing on the period in which he attended most races - the 1960s, 70s and 80s. As well as drawing on his personal recollections of those times, Michael's trademark is the depth and quality of his research, talking to as many of the key players in a story as possible, rather than relying on reports and other coverage in contemporary magazines.

Magazines Michael has written for include Motor Sport, Classic Cars, Octane, Vintage Racecar, Victory Lane, Chequered Flag, Motor Racing Australia and Total BMW, as well as non-racing magazines such as What Camcorder?

Drivers Michael has profiled range from Graham Hill, John Surtees, Pedro Rodriguez, Jo Siffert and Chris Amon to Paul Hawkins, Jody Scheckter and Dave Walker. He has also written about, among others, the Lotus 56B turbine and turbine race cars, the advent of wings in Formula 1, four wheel drive Formula 1 cars, and the history of Brabham.
